What it does
The cord is the link between the power supply and the cell. Every amp the cell uses to make chlorine passes through it, which is why a cord with a corroded terminal or a nicked conductor shows up as weak output rather than as no output at all.
Check the cord before the cell
A cell is the expensive part of a salt system and it takes the blame for most output complaints.
