Product details

The Pentair 520588 is the IntelliChlor pass-through cell. It takes the place of the salt cell in the return line when the cell is not in service.

Why bother

An IntelliChlor cell is plumbed in line, so pulling it leaves a gap in the return. The pass-through cell drops into that gap and lets water run straight through, which means no cut pipe, no temporary spool piece, and no bypass to build and later undo. Pentair lists it for winter closing and for start up.

What it protects

With the pass-through cell fitted, the actual salt cell comes off the pool and can be rinsed, inspected and stored dry. Cells that spend the closed season sitting full of standing water in the plumbing tend not to last as long as ones that are put away clean.

Note

The pass-through cell has no plates and produces no chlorine. It is a plumbing part, not a chlorinator.

What is a pass-through cell for?
It fills the gap in the plumbing where the salt cell normally sits. Water passes straight through it, so the return line stays complete while the real cell is off the pool.
