Pentair 521147 is the genuine gasket kit for the IntelliChlor salt chlorine generator, supplied ten to a pack.

Why buy ten

Salt cells come out of the plumbing more often than most equipment: for inspection, for a scale clean, at closing and again at opening. Every one of those pulls should go back together on fresh gaskets, and at this price the pack costs less than one callback for a drip. It suits a service van or an owner running more than one salt pool.

Fitting

Seat the gasket square in the union before you offer the cell up, and take the union nuts up hand tight. The gasket makes the seal, so extra force adds nothing and is the usual reason a union nut cracks. A gasket that is flattened, nicked or hardened should be swapped rather than reused, since a weeping cell drips onto the equipment pad and corrodes whatever sits beneath it.

How many gaskets do I get?
Ten. Pentair 521147 is sold as a 10 pack.
Do I need to replace the gaskets every time I clean the cell?
It is good practice. The gaskets take a set once they have been compressed, and a reused one is the most common source of a slow drip at the cell unions.
How tight should the cell unions go?
Hand tight. The seal is made by the gasket, not by force, and over tightening the union nut is what splits it.
