DEL AOP 50 Ozone + UV Generator, up to 50k Gallon Pools

The DEL AOP 50 is an advanced oxidation sanitizer for in-ground pools up to 50,000 gallons. It combines DEL's Plasma Gap ozone generation with an integrated Trident germicidal UV lamp in one unit. When ozone and UV-C light meet, the reaction produces hydroxyl radicals, which carry more oxidation potential than ozone and roughly three times the oxidizing power of chlorine. That combination is the Advanced Oxidation Process, or AOP.

What it does for the water

Hydroxyl radicals destroy bacteria, viruses and other pathogens quickly, including chlorine resistant organisms such as Cryptosporidium parvum, Giardia and E. coli. AOP also breaks down chloramines, which is where most of the chemical odor, eye irritation and equipment damage in a chlorine pool comes from, and it reduces how much chlorine the pool depends on. The manufacturer rates it to destroy 99.9 percent of harmful contaminants.

Naming and history

This unit was sold as the DEL Ozone Solar Eclipse under part SEC-100-26. CMP acquired DEL Ozone and folded the line into its catalog, so the current part number is SEC-110-26 and the product is branded the CMP DEL AOP 50. The label may differ from older images, but it is the same system.

Installation

The AOP 50 is intended as the primary sanitizer on in-ground pools up to 50,000 gallons and can be installed during construction or added to an existing pool.
