Oxidation, not sanitizing
Any alternative treatment that claims to replace chlorine or bromine has to do three things: hold a stable measurable residual, kill viruses, bacteria and algae, and oxidize what bathers bring into the water. Chlorine and bromine are the only sanitizers that manage all three, so they stay in the pool. What they are not good at is the third job. Ozone is a far stronger oxidizer, so this unit takes that work over and leaves the chlorine or bromine to provide a free available residual.
What changes in the water
