Product details
The DEL Ozone 25 is an ozone generator for residential pools from 7,000 to 25,000 gallons, sold by CMP under part number EC-10. It uses the DEL Advanced Plasma Gap design and was previously offered as the Eclipse 10.
What ozone does in a pool
Ozone is oxygen in a three atom form. That third atom is loosely held, and it breaks away to oxidize contaminants in the water as they pass through the system. Because ozone does its work inside the plumbing and does not persist in the pool, it is designed to run alongside a residual sanitizer rather than instead of one. DEL rates the arrangement at a 60 to 90 percent reduction in chemical requirements.
Specifications
The unit runs on 120 or 240 volts at 50 or 60 Hz, drawing 0.1 amps and 12 watts. Ozone output is 0.25 grams per hour at an air flow of 15 scfh, and the operating range is 30 to 120 degrees F. The powdercoated galvannealed steel enclosure measures 14.1 inches high by 7.8 wide by 3.2 deep.
Installing it
The generator wall mounts and ties into the pool timer so it runs with the circulation pump. Ozone is fed into the return line through an injector manifold placed after the filter and heater. The manifold is a separate item, as is the mixing degas vessel some installers add to keep ozone out of the returns.
A note on branding
CMP acquired DEL Ozone and brought the line into its own catalog, so packaging and labels on current stock carry CMP branding even where older references show DEL.
