Quick overview
- Sacrificial by design The zinc corrodes in place of the metal parts in your equipment and pool.
- Compact body The newer space saving design fits where a full size inline anode will not.
- Bonding wire connection The inline anode connects to the pool bonding wire, and 4 ft of solid copper ground wire is included.
- Meets NEC 2008 680.26(C) Inline Pool Defenders qualify as a water bonding device under that code section.
- Listed to three standards Complies with UL-1081, UL-1563 and CSA C22.2-218.1.
- Replace at half gone Swap the inexpensive zinc when about half of it has eroded, roughly every 3 years.

Product details
The CMP 25810-400-050 is the compact version of the Pool Defender, an inline sacrificial zinc anode that plumbs into 2 in. pipe. It ships with 4 ft of solid copper ground wire.
The problem it solves
A pool carries electrical current from several sources, and that current keeps flowing even when the pump is off. In salt water it is stronger still. Left alone it eats away at heaters, rails, fittings and anything else metal in the system. Building codes now expect that current to be controlled.
How it works
Zinc gives the current an easier path than your expensive metal components, so the anode corrodes and they do not. Bonded correctly, the inline Pool Defender helps protect the whole pool from galvanic corrosion, and the compact body fits in tighter equipment pads than a full size anode.
Service
Check the zinc as part of normal maintenance and replace it once about half of it has eroded, which typically works out to every three years or so. The replacement is inexpensive compared with the parts it protects.
