The Perma-Cast TN-IL-20 is a 2 inch inline sacrificial anode carrying 53 square inches of zinc inside a clear PVC housing.
What a sacrificial anode does
Put dissimilar metals in the same body of water and the more reactive one gives up material to protect the rest. A zinc anode is deliberately the most reactive metal in the system, so it corrodes first and the heater core, the metal filter parts and the rest of the plumbing metal do not. The anode is meant to be consumed, and replacing it is the whole point of fitting one.
How it installs
The TN-IL-20 goes inline in the plumbing and connects directly to the metal filter or heater core it protects. The housing is clear PVC, so you can see how much zinc is left without breaking into the line. A weatherproof installation sticker is included to record the install and the service date on the equipment.
