Product details

The Perma-Cast TN-100 Technode is an in-line sacrificial anode that installs at a tee in the pool plumbing. It carries 24 square inches of zinc inside a clear PVC housing.

Why a pool needs an anode

Water, dissolved salts and dissimilar metals make a battery. Left alone, that galvanic action eats at heat exchangers, ladder anchors, light rings and any other metal in the system. A zinc anode gives the reaction something easier to consume, so the zinc wastes away and the expensive metal does not.

The clear housing

Anodes only work while there is anode left, which is exactly the thing most owners never check. The Technode housing is clear PVC, so the remaining zinc can be seen from the equipment pad without breaking into the plumbing. A weatherproof installation sticker is supplied to record the date and keep the service interval honest.

Where it goes

This is the in-line version, made to sit in a tee in the pipe run. Perma-Cast also builds a Technode that fits a metal filter or heater core, so pick the one that matches where you want the protection.

What does a sacrificial anode do?
It corrodes so other metal does not. Zinc is less noble than the metals in heaters, rails and fittings, so galvanic action attacks the anode first and leaves the equipment alone.
Why is the housing clear?
So you can see how much zinc is left. Anodes are consumed by design, and a clear housing turns a check on the pad into a glance instead of a teardown.

Where does it install?
In the plumbing, at a tee. It is the in-line version of the Technode rather than the type that mounts to a metal filter or heater core.
