Product details

The iGarden P Series is a variable speed inverter pool pump for permanently installed in ground and above ground pools, built around an IE4 DC brushless motor and made in three sizes: P08, P11 and P15. All three run on 115V or 230V, carry a full touchscreen on the motor end, connect to the iGarden app over Wi-Fi, and come with two 2 in. unions in the box.

Three sizes

Model iGarden rating THP at 230V (115V) Maximum flow at 230V (115V) Maximum head Part number
P08 0.85 HP 0.85 THP (0.85 THP) 101 GPM (101 GPM) 56 ft DB19DV
P11 1.25 HP 1.20 THP (1.05 THP) 118 GPM (110 GPM) 62 ft DB23DV
P15 1.75 HP 1.65 THP (1.25 THP) 136 GPM (123 GPM) 67 ft DB28DV

The P08 gives the same output on either voltage. The P11 and P15 give their full output on 230V and a little less on 115V, which matters if the equipment pad only has 115V. Our pool pump size calculator works out the flow your pool needs from its volume and turnover.

The motor and the drive

An IE4 DC brushless motor on an inverter drive runs at the speed you set, from 30 to 100 percent in 5 percent steps, with a soft start. iGarden puts its energy use at over 10 times better than a single speed pump. Its own comparison runs a 1.5 HP single speed pump against the P11 for 16 hours a day on a 16,000 gallon pool at 20 cents per kWh and gets 8,760 kWh a year against 876. Your figure depends on your rate, your hours and how low a speed turns your pool over. iGarden rates the noise at 36 dBA.

Controls

The touchscreen locks after a minute and unlocks with a three second press. From it you set the running speed, four daily timers (a start, an end and a speed for each), a one touch backwash at full speed, and a live power reading. Every start primes the pump on its own, counting down from 1,500 seconds until it senses water, and it then settles at 80 percent until you change it. The iGarden app adds the same controls, more timers, power statistics and sharing with the family on a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. For automation, a seven pin connector gives four digital inputs (stop, 100, 80 and 40 percent) and RS485 Modbus.

Installation

It is wired to a GFCI protected circuit with copper conductors; the pump accepts 115V or 230V and senses which. The manufacturer's rules: no more than 6.5 ft above the water level, at least 6 ft from the inside of the pool walls, 6 in. of air around the motor, indoors or in the shade, and bonded with 8 AWG copper. Plumb it with 2 in. pipe, keep any elbow at least 14 in. from the inlet, and use only the supplied unions on the pump body. Fill the strainer before the first start; it is not built to run dry. Salt pools up to 3.5 percent salt are fine. It is not for storable pools.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

Which iGarden P Series model do I need, P08, P11 or P15?
By the flow your pool needs. iGarden's manual gives maximum flow at 230V of 101 GPM for the P08, 118 GPM for the P11 and 136 GPM for the P15, at 56, 62 and 67 ft of maximum head. On 115V the P11 and P15 fall to 110 and 123 GPM. iGarden does not publish pool sizes for them, so size by turnover: the P08 suits a smaller pool or an above ground pool, the P15 a large pool or one with a long plumbing run, a spa or a water feature. Our pump size calculator gives the flow for your volume.
Does it run on 115V or 230V?
Either. The pump senses the supply voltage, and the manual rates every model at both. The P08 gives the same output on each; the P11 and P15 give their full output on 230V and a little less on 115V. It is wired to a GFCI protected circuit with copper conductors, by an electrician, with no extension cord.
Can I use it on an above ground pool?
Yes, on a permanently installed one. iGarden rates the P Series for in ground and above ground pools that are built in place, and for hot tubs and spas with water under 122°F. It is not for storable pools that come down for the winter. The pump can sit up to 6.5 ft above the water level and must be at least 6 ft from the inside of the pool walls.
Does it work with a salt water pool?
Yes. The manufacturer rates it for salt concentrations up to 3.5 percent, or 35 grams per liter, well above the 3,000 to 4,000 ppm a residential salt chlorinator runs at.
How do I control it: from the pump, a phone or my automation system?
All three. The touchscreen on the pump sets the speed, four daily timers, the backwash and a live power reading. The iGarden app, paired over Bluetooth and a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, does the same from a phone and adds more timers, power statistics and sharing with family. For automation, a seven pin connector carries four digital inputs (stop, 100, 80 and 40 percent, the three speeds adjustable) and RS485 Modbus. Digital inputs take priority over RS485, and both over the panel.
Does it prime itself?
Yes. Every start runs a self priming cycle that counts down from 1,500 seconds and stops as soon as the pump senses it is full of water, then rechecks for 30 seconds before settling at 80 percent speed. Fill the strainer with water before the first start all the same; the manual says a dry run damages the mechanical seal, and the pump shuts down on a no water or loss of prime error (E207, E209). Self priming can be turned off in the parameters.
What pipe size does it take?
Two 2 in. unions come in the box, one for the inlet and one for the outlet, and the manufacturer recommends 2 in. pipe. The pump body has a 2 in. internal thread, and 1.5 in. unions are available from the manufacturer. Keep any elbow at least 14 in. from the inlet, and use only the supplied unions on the pump body.
What is the warranty?
iGarden states a 5 year warranty on the P Series, with a replacement rather than a repair if a unit fails, from the date of purchase. Consumable parts such as the strainer basket and o rings are not main components. Keep your order as proof of purchase.
