Product details

This is the Waterway Hi-Flo, a 1.5 HP two speed pump on a 48 frame, wired for 115 V at 60 Hz with side discharge and 2 inch intake and discharge connections.

Two speeds, two jobs

On low speed the motor draws 4.4 A, and on high speed it draws 16.4 A. That gap is the point of a two speed pump: routine turnover can run on low for a fraction of the current, and the high speed is there when a task actually calls for flow, such as vacuuming or backwashing.

Plumbing

Both ports are 2 inch, and the discharge exits the side of the volute rather than the top. Measure the existing pump before ordering, since side discharge and top discharge pumps are not interchangeable in a tight equipment pad without repiping.

A note on the listing

Waterway lists this assembly as a 48 frame spa pump, while it is sold here under pool pumps and tagged for above ground use. The electrical and plumbing figures above are the manufacturer values either way.
