Product details

The Pool Pals BR2016P is a 17 inch all purpose pool brush with poly bristles on a metal handle back. It clips to a standard telescopic pole and covers walls, floors, steps and coves.

Bristle choice

Poly bristles are the general duty option. They are stiff enough to lift the film that settles on walls between vacuums but not so hard that they mark softer surfaces, which is why they are the usual recommendation over vinyl liners and fiberglass. Stainless bristles are the aggressive alternative and belong on plaster and gunite. If you are unsure what your pool is finished in, poly is the safe starting point.

Why the metal back

A wide brush head is only useful if it stays flat against the surface. The metal handle bar keeps the bristle block from flexing as you push, so the full 17 inches does work rather than just the middle.

Brushing is the part of pool care that gets skipped, and it is the part that keeps algae from ever getting a hold in the first place. A brush that is comfortable and wide gets used more often than one that is not.

What surfaces is this brush for?
It is the all purpose poly bristle brush. Poly is the softer of the two common bristle types and is the usual choice where a stainless brush would be too aggressive, such as vinyl and fiberglass.
How wide is the head?
17 inches.
Does it come with a pole?
No. Brushes are sold as the head only and clip onto a standard telescopic pool pole.
What does the metal handle do?
It is the backing bar the bristle block is built on. Metal keeps a 17 inch head rigid so the bristles stay pressed against the wall instead of bowing.
