How it is built
The sheet is 8 mil black on tan triple laminated polyethylene. The seams are heat sealed for extra strength rather than sewn, and the edges carry a sewn in polypropylene reinforcement. Aluminum grommets sit at each corner, and 2 inch by 12 inch water tube loops run every four feet around the perimeter.
Solid versus mesh
A solid cover blocks light as well as debris, so the water stays dark and algae has nothing to work with over the winter. The trade off is that rain and snow melt collect on the surface, so plan on a cover pump to keep the load off. Water tubes, sized to the loops, are what hold the cover down and are bought separately.
The warranty is 20 years limited, with the first 3 years full.
