The Lasco 437-251 is a PVC reducer bushing that takes a 2 in slip socket down to a 1-1/2 in slip socket. Both ends are solvent weld, so it glues in with standard primer and PVC cement.
Where it gets used
Pool plumbing runs mostly in 2 in and 1-1/2 in pipe, and the two sizes meet constantly: at pump ports, at filter and valve connections, and anywhere a run steps down. A bushing is the tidiest way to make that step, because it seats inside an existing 2 in socket instead of adding another fitting and another glue joint.
Check before you glue
Dry fit first and confirm the pipe you are joining is genuinely 1-1/2 in, since threaded and slip fittings of the same nominal size are not interchangeable. This one is slip on both ends.
