Product details

The Waterway 711-4000 is the flat gasket that seals a 1-1/2 in. union. It sits between the union nut and the fitting and is the part that actually makes the joint watertight.

Where it is used

Waterway uses this gasket across a wide range of equipment: center discharge pumps, Carefree and Clearwater sand filters, and replacement pump strainer traps. If a 1-1/2 in. Waterway union is involved, this is the gasket in it.

Chasing a union leak

A union that weeps at the nut is nearly always a gasket problem, not a cracked fitting. Gaskets flatten, take a permanent set, get nicked when the joint is opened, or dry out over a season. Hand tighten the nut first; if it still drips, take it apart and look at the gasket. A thin film of pool rated silicone lubricant on the new one helps it seat and makes the union easier to open next time.
