Product details

The Lasco 1436-015 is a 1-1/2 inch PVC male adapter with an insert end on one side and male iron pipe threads on the other. It is the fitting that gets flexible insert pipe onto a threaded port.

How the two ends differ

The insert end is a barbed spigot. It goes inside the pipe and is held with a clamp, not with cement. The threaded end screws into a female thread, which on a pool is usually a pump suction or discharge port, a valve, a filter inlet or a heater union.

Fitting it

Put sealant tape or paste on the male threads and tighten by hand, then bring it up snug with a wrench. Plastic ports split easily, so stop as soon as the joint is firm. On the insert side, warm stiff pipe before pushing it on and set the clamp back from the pipe end so it sits over the barb.

What does INS x MIPT mean?
Insert by male iron pipe thread. One end is an insert that goes into flexible pipe, the other is a male thread that screws into a female fitting or port.
What size is it?
1-1/2 inch.
Is the insert end glued?
No. An insert end is pushed into the pipe and secured with a clamp. Only the socket style fittings get solvent cement.
Do I need sealant on the threads?
Use thread sealant tape or paste on the male threads. Hand tighten and then bring it up snug, since overtightening splits plastic female ports.
