Product details
The Lasco 1436-015 is a 1-1/2 inch PVC male adapter with an insert end on one side and male iron pipe threads on the other. It is the fitting that gets flexible insert pipe onto a threaded port.
How the two ends differ
The insert end is a barbed spigot. It goes inside the pipe and is held with a clamp, not with cement. The threaded end screws into a female thread, which on a pool is usually a pump suction or discharge port, a valve, a filter inlet or a heater union.
Fitting it
Put sealant tape or paste on the male threads and tighten by hand, then bring it up snug with a wrench. Plastic ports split easily, so stop as soon as the joint is firm. On the insert side, warm stiff pipe before pushing it on and set the clamp back from the pipe end so it sits over the barb.
