The Lasco 429-015 is a 1-1/2 in. PVC coupling, slip by slip. It is the plain straight joiner used all over pool plumbing.
What it is for
Any time two runs of 1-1/2 in. pipe need to meet in a straight line, this is the fitting. Extending a line to reach relocated equipment, joining a new section to old, or putting a run back together after a cut all come down to the same part.
How it goes together
Both ends are sockets. The pipe slides in and is bonded with PVC primer and cement, which chemically welds the two pieces into one. That is what makes the joint hold pressure, so there is no substitute for doing it properly: clean the pipe, prime both surfaces, cement, seat it fully and give it time to set before the pump runs.

If a repair leaves you short on pipe, an extra deep socket coupling gives more room to work and is a separate part. Elbows and sweeps in the same size cover the turns.
