Why unions matter on a pad
Every piece of equipment that will eventually need pulling should sit between unions. When that day comes, the nuts break loose and the gear lifts out. Without them, the same job means cutting pipe, then gluing in couplings to put it back, and the pad slowly gets shorter every time.
Self aligning
Joining two runs that are already glued in place rarely leaves them perfectly square to each other. The self aligning design lets the halves seat anyway, which is the difference between a union that pulls up tight and one that weeps no matter how hard you crank the nut.
