Product details
The Praher 200-903 is a two inch union with a slip socket on one side and a male pipe thread on the other. It is the joint you put in a plumbing run when you want to be able to take it apart later.
How it goes in
The slip end solvent welds onto 2 in PVC pipe. The male threaded end screws into a female port, which is how most pumps, filters and heaters present their inlets and outlets. Threaded plastic wants sealant rather than force, so tape the thread and stop when it is snug.
Why it earns its place
Anything on the equipment pad eventually comes off for service or replacement. With a union at the connection that is a two minute job. Without one it means a saw, fresh pipe and a wait for the cement to cure.
