Product details

The Praher 200-010 is a 2 inch single union blocked ball valve with socket ends on both sides. It is made by Praher Plastics Ltd.

How it connects

Both ends are sockets, written Skt/Skt on the part description, so the valve solvent welds directly onto 2 inch PVC pipe. There are no threads to seal and nothing to tape.

Why the union matters

Single union means one side of the valve carries a union nut. Undo the nut and the valve comes out of the run without a saw, which turns a valve replacement from a plumbing job into a five minute swap. It also lets you rotate the valve body to get at the seat.

In use

A ball valve goes from full flow to fully closed in a quarter turn. Putting one on each side of a pump, filter or heater means you can isolate that piece of equipment and work on it without draining the rest of the system.
