Product details

The Waterco 14652 is a check valve with 2 in. internal ports and 2-1/2 in. external ports. It goes into the pipework at the equipment pad and lets water travel one way only.

What it fixes

Two familiar problems. The first is a pump that keeps losing prime, which happens when water in the suction line drains back every time the system stops. The second is water draining down towards the pump and filter, which puts equipment through a dry start it was never meant to take.

Fitting it

The valve is directional. It has to be installed the correct way around for the flow you want to allow, so check the orientation before you glue or tighten anything.

The two port sizes mean it can be plumbed into 2 in. or 2-1/2 in. work depending on how the joints are made up. Match it against the pipe you actually have on the pad.

What size pipe does this take?
It has 2 in. internal ports and 2-1/2 in. external ports, so it can meet either size depending on how the plumbing is made up.
What problem does a check valve solve?
Two of them. It stops a pump losing prime on the suction side, and it stops water draining back down towards the pump and filter when the system shuts off.
Where does it go in the plumbing?
In the pipework at the equipment pad, positioned so it blocks flow in the direction you do not want water to travel.
Why does my pump keep losing prime?
If the pump sits above water level, water in the suction line drains back every time it stops and the pump has to start dry. A check valve in that line keeps the water where it is.
