Product details

The Hayward PSV3S2DGR is a 3-way diverter valve from the PSV Series, built in PVC with 2 in by 2-1/2 in ports. It is the valve for sending flow one way or the other in pool and spa plumbing.

What a 3-way does

A three way valve has one common port and two others, so it can split flow between two lines or switch it fully from one to the other. That is what makes it the standard choice for pool and spa switching, a solar bypass, or a waterfall line that is not always running. A 2-way valve, by contrast, only opens or closes a single line.

Sizing and material

The dual size sockets take 2 in or 2-1/2 in pipe. The body is PVC. Hayward also lists a CPVC version of the same valve under a separate part number for installations that need it.

What size pipe does this valve take?
It is the 2 in by 2-1/2 in size, so it can be plumbed into either 2 in or 2-1/2 in pipe.
What is the difference between the 3-way and the 2-way?
The 3-way diverts flow between two outlets or combines two inlets. The 2-way simply opens and closes a single line. Hayward sells the 2-way version separately.
Is the body PVC or CPVC?
This one is PVC. Hayward lists a CPVC version of the same valve under a different part number, which is the one to use where line temperatures call for it.
Where would I use a 3-way diverter?
Anywhere flow has to be sent one way or the other without repiping: pool and spa switching, solar bypass, or a waterfall or feature line.
