Product details

The Waterco Micron S600 is a 24 inch top mount sand filter supplied complete with a 1.5 inch multiport valve. It carries 3.05 sq ft of filter area and is rated at 59 GPM.

How it filters

Micron filters work by depth filtration. Water is pushed down through the sand bed, dirt lodges in the small spaces between the grains, and the cleaned water passes out through the laterals and back to the pool through the multiport valve. An inflow diffuser spreads the incoming water across the top of the bed so it does not cut a channel, and the laterals are hydraulically balanced to keep flow even across the tank.

Build and plumbing

The tank is fiberglass wound and specified as UV and corrosion resistant. The valve uses quick connect barrel unions, so the filter can be isolated for service without cutting pipe. A pressure gauge and a manual drain are part of the filter, and the base is wide enough to stand on the pad without extra support.

Operating limits

Working pressure is 36 psi and the maximum working temperature is 122 F, which is 50 C. Stay inside both when sizing the pump and setting up heater plumbing.
