The Hayward SP1091CV is a male combo adaptor check valve in the 1-1/2 inch by 1-1/4 inch size. It puts an adaptor and a one way valve into a single body.

Why a combo fitting

Handling both sizes in one part removes a joint from the run. Fewer joints means fewer places to leak and less plumbing to build, which matters at a connection that gets taken apart and remade.

The check valve half

The valve permits flow in one direction only. When flow stops, it holds water from running back through the connection instead of letting the line drain the wrong way.
