What it does
A check valve passes water one way and blocks it in the other. In an ozone installation that is not a convenience, it is protection. When the pump stops, water in the plumbing wants to travel back along the injection line, and the check valve is the only thing standing between that water and the ozone generator.
Fitting it
Note the two end styles: a socket on the 1.5 inch side and a spigot on the 2 inch side. Check valves are directional and marked, so fit it with the flow arrow pointing away from the ozone equipment.
