Product details

The CMP Hydroseal swing check valve is a 2 inch socket check valve with a clear body, part number 25062-209-000 from Custom Molded Products.

Why the clear body helps

A check valve fails quietly. The flapper wears, or a leaf or a pebble props it open, and nothing announces the problem except a pump that stops holding prime or a feeder that keeps backfilling. A clear body turns that into a visual check: you look at the valve while the pump is running and see whether the flapper is moving as it should.

Where it goes

Swing checks are used wherever water must travel one way only. On a pool that is usually the suction line to keep a pump primed, the discharge from a chemical feeder so nothing backs into it, or a solar feed so the panels do not drain every time the pump shuts off.

Installing it

The valve is directional. Follow the flow arrow on the body when you glue it in, because a check valve fitted backwards does not restrict flow, it stops it.

What size pipe does it take?

Why is the body clear?
So you can see the flapper working. On an opaque check valve the only way to know it is stuck or fouled is to cut it out; with a clear body you look at it.
