Product details

The Jandy BVSU020 is a heavy duty single union ball valve in 2 in gray PVC, made for pool and spa equipment plumbing.

Why a union valve

A plain ball valve is glued in at both ends, which means any future work on it or on the equipment behind it starts with a saw. A single union valve has a threaded nut on one end. Back the nut off and the joint comes apart, so a pump, a heater or the valve itself can be pulled and refitted without touching the rest of the pipe run.

On the pad

Ball valves are for isolating, not for throttling: open or closed is what they do best. Put one either side of a piece of equipment and servicing it becomes a matter of closing two handles rather than draining the system. This is the 2 in size, in gray PVC to match standard pool pad plumbing.

What does single union mean?
One end of the valve has a threaded union nut. Undo it and the valve separates at that point, so the valve or the equipment on that side can be removed without cutting into the pipe.
