The Lasco V17801N is the 1-1/2 inch valve in the 801 Series, a gray PVC true union ball valve for pool, pond, irrigation and tank plumbing.
Why a true union valve
A valve solvent welded straight into the pipe is a valve you cut out when it fails. A true union body has a threaded collar at each end, so the whole center section lifts out of the line once the collars are backed off. That makes the valve serviceable and, if it ever has to be replaced, the job is minutes rather than a repipe.
Where it belongs
Lasco lists the 801 Series for swimming pools, ponds, irrigation, tanks and similar water systems, in service where chlorine or other additives are present at lower concentrations. It is a general water isolation valve, not a chemical feed valve.
