Product details

The Hayward PSCV2SDGR is a 1.5 inch by 2 inch PVC check valve in dark gray, rated to 50 psi and built from corrosion resistant materials for pool water.

The clear removable top

Most check valves are a sealed body: when the flapper wears or something jams it, the valve comes out of the run with a saw. This one has a clear removable top, so you can look at the flapper without draining the system and get at it without cutting the plumbing apart. On a pad where the valve sits between hard piped equipment, that difference is the whole reason to choose it.

Installing it

A check valve is directional and only holds one way, so confirm which way water needs to flow before you solvent weld it into the run. Once it is in, the clear top lets you confirm at a glance that the flapper is seating.

Yes. The top is clear and removable, which is the point of this design compared with valves that have to be cut out of the run.

Where does a check valve go on a pool?
Anywhere water must not run backwards, most often between a chlorinator or heater and the pump, or on the suction side of a pump that sits above water level. Note the flow direction before gluing it in.
