Product details

The Pentair 263042 is a straight bodied CPVC check valve in black for pool and spa plumbing. It passes water one direction and blocks it the other.

What it is for

When the pump shuts off, gravity pulls water back through the plumbing. A check valve stops that. It keeps the pump holding prime so it restarts without an airlock, and it keeps output from a chlorinator or chemical feeder from drifting backward toward equipment that should not see it.

CPVC, not PVC

CPVC is rated for higher water temperature than standard PVC. That makes it the material of choice on the discharge side of a heater, where returning water can be well above the comfort range of plain white pipe.
