The Jandy 4718 is a Neverlube 2 port dial valve with 2-1/2 inch and 3 inch PVC connections. It is a 2 way valve, used to shut off or isolate a line on the equipment pad.
What Neverlube changes
Traditional diverter valves rely on a greased seal, and that grease has to be renewed. Skip it and the valve stiffens, the handle gets harder to turn, and eventually the diverter drags and tears. The Neverlube design removes that maintenance item, so the valve stays serviceable without an annual strip down.
Size and use
This is one of the larger valves in the range, taking 2-1/2 inch and 3 inch pipe. That puts it on bigger residential systems and light commercial plumbing, where 2 inch pipe would restrict flow. Being a 2 port, it opens and closes a single path. If your job is to send water to one of two places, the 3 port version of the same valve is what you want.
