Product details

The Praher TM-12-L is a 1-1/2 inch six way multiport valve. It is the backwash valve for the Sta-Rite Cristal-Flo sand filter, and it turns up on a long list of other filters besides.

What the valve does

Everything a sand filter can do, it does through the multiport. The handle picks the port position and the valve sends water where that position calls for. When the internals wear, water starts passing between positions instead of following the one you selected, and the usual symptom is dirty water going back to the pool during a backwash.

What it fits

Beyond the Sta-Rite Cristal-Flo, the same valve is used on the Baker Hydro III, Cooper and Millenium sand filter, the W Cooper Ranger RS Series sand filters, the Waterway Smartclean sand filter and the Speck Aquaswim AS-250. Match the valve size at your filter first: this is the 1-1/2 inch version.

Before you order

The clamp assembly and its o-ring are a separate Praher part. If the old clamp has been on the filter for years it is worth replacing at the same time, since it is the piece holding the new valve to the tank.
