When to replace the whole valve
Most multiport problems are a spider gasket, a stem o-ring or a diverter, and those are worth fixing. Past a point they are not: a cracked body, a worn seat that will not seal on any position, or stripped threads mean the valve itself is finished. That is where a complete assembly saves a second trip.
