The Hayward SP0710XALL is the Vari-Flo XL multiport control valve kit for 1.5 inch plumbing. It is the valve that routes water through the filter and handles backwashing.

Six positions

One lever action handle selects filter, backwash, waste, rinse, closed or recirculate. An integral sight glass sits in the valve so you can see the backwash water and stop the cycle when it runs clear instead of guessing at the timing.
