Hayward 2" Vari-Flo Top Mount Valve

The Hayward SP071621 is the 2 in. Vari-Flo top mount multiport valve used on the Pro Series S310, S310T and S310T2 sand filters. It is the genuine Hayward part, sold here as the valve alone: the same valve as the SP071620T, but without the clamp and tank o-ring. If your clamp and o-ring are still in good shape, this is the cheaper way to replace a cracked or leaking valve.

What you get

A black clamp on valve body with a round cover, held down by 10 nuts and bolts. The plumbing ports are 2 in. MPT. The pipe that drops into the tank is 2 in. long with a 1.9 in. inside diameter, and the clamp flange measures 8 in. across. The valve stands 13-1/8 in. tall including that pipe, not counting the handle. A sight glass and gasket are installed, and the pressure gauge hole comes plugged with a 1/4 in. plug.

Identifying your valve

Hayward marks the cover SP 715 21 and the body SP-716-A13. Those are component numbers for the same assembly, which Hayward lists as SP071621 or SP-716-21. If your filter is one of the three S310 models above and the flange is 8 in., this is the match.

Before you order

Have a clamp and a tank o-ring on hand, either reused from the old valve or ordered separately, and a pressure gauge if you are not moving over the old one.
