Product details

This is the CMP 27502-154-000 top mount multiport valve, with 1-1/2 in FPT ports and clamp style mounting. It is the replacement for the Pentair 262506 valve on Tagelus D style sand filters, covering the TA40D, TA50D and TA60D.

What the multiport does

The multiport is the control center of a sand filter. Every position on the handle routes water differently: filter, backwash, rinse, waste, recirculate and closed. Everything you do to maintain a sand filter goes through this one valve, which is why it takes more wear than anything else on the tank.

Signs the valve is done

Water at the waste line while the valve is set to filter, a handle that will not index into position cleanly, weeping around the shaft, or a hairline crack in the body all point at the valve rather than the filter. A spider gasket can be replaced on its own, but once the diverter and the body have worn against each other the leak paths do not close up again.

Before ordering

Confirm your filter is one of the Tagelus D models listed and that your plumbing is 1-1/2 in. Check whether your tank uses the clamp style connection, since that is what this valve is built for.
