Product details

The Sta-Rite 14971-TM-22-L is a 2 inch multiport valve kit for the T-240BP and T-300BP sand filters. Sta-Rite is a Pentair brand, and the valve is made by Pentair.

Six positions

Filter for normal running, backwash to reverse flow through the sand, rinse to settle the bed afterwards, waste to send water straight out without going through the filter, recirculate to bypass the filter entirely, and closed. Those six cover every routine job a sand filter asks for.

Check the size and the model

This is the 2 inch valve. The port size has to match your plumbing, and the valve has to match the filter, so read the model off the filter label rather than going by appearance. Sta-Rite lists this kit for the T-240BP and the T-300BP.

When it is time to replace

Valves are replaced when the internals wear enough to let water past in positions where it should not go, typically showing up as water heading to waste while the valve is set to filter. That is wear inside the valve body, and a new spider gasket alone will not put it right.
