Product details

The Praher 200-100 is a 2 inch PVC union with a socket on each end, made for pool and spa plumbing. It solvent welds into a 2 inch line the same way any slip fitting does, and from then on that joint can be opened by hand.

Why unions matter

Pool equipment gets pulled. Pumps get rebuilt, filters get replaced, heaters get swapped. Every one of those jobs is quick if there is a union either side of the equipment and slow if there is not, because the alternative is a saw, new fittings and a wait for the glue to cure.

Fitting it

Take the union apart before you glue, prime and cement each half onto the pipe, then bring the two halves together and hand tighten the nut. The seal is made by the union nut and its o-ring, not by overtightening, so leave the wrench alone.

Praher Plastics Canada builds this fitting, and it is a straightforward replacement wherever a 2 inch slip by slip union is called for.

What does slip by slip mean?

Both ends are plain sockets. The pipe slides in and is solvent welded, with no threads on either side.

Will this take 2 inch pipe?

Yes. It is the 2 inch size, so it accepts standard 2 inch PVC pool pipe in both sockets.

Why fit a union at all?

So you can open the line later. Without one, pulling a pump or a filter means cutting pipe and gluing in new fittings.

Is a threaded version available?

This part, Praher 200-100, is the socket by socket version. Threaded unions are a different part number.
