The Hayward SP1022SBLK is a wall inlet fitting in black, with a 1-1/2 inch slip socket on the pipe side and a 2 inch male pipe thread on the wall side.

Where it fits in the system

This is a return fitting. Water leaves the filter, travels back through the plumbing and enters the pool through fittings like this one. The 2 inch thread engages the wall fitting and the 1-1/2 inch socket takes glued PVC on the pipe run.
