Product details

The Jandy R0412700 is the o-ring for the 2 inch union, the seal that sits in the union face and holds the joint watertight. It is the genuine Jandy part.

Where it is used

Jandy uses 2 inch unions throughout the equipment pad, and this is the o-ring listed for that connection, including the 2 inch LX unions at an AquaPure cell. It is the part that comes out when a union is opened for winterizing or for cleaning a cell, and the part most likely to be pinched or nicked on the way back together.

The mistake to avoid

When a union drips, the instinct is to lean on the collar. That does not work. A union seals on the o-ring, not on clamping force, and cranking the collar down distorts the faces and can crack the nut. If it weeps after hand tightening, the o-ring is done.

Fitting

Clean the groove, check that no grit is trapped in it, and put a thin film of silicone based lubricant on the new o-ring before assembly. It seats more evenly and comes apart far more easily next time.

What size union is this for?
2 inch. It is the o-ring for the Jandy 2 inch union connection.
My union drips even when I tighten it hard. Will this fix it?
Usually. Over tightening a union collar does not seal a bad o-ring, it just distorts the faces. If the o-ring is flat, nicked or hardened, replacing it is the fix.
Should I grease it?
A thin film of silicone based lubricant helps it seat and keeps it from grabbing when you open the union again. Do not use petroleum grease on pool o-rings.
