Product details

The Lasco 417-010 is a PVC 45 degree elbow in 1 inch slip. It is the fitting for turning a plumbing run through 45 degrees rather than a full right angle.

Where a 45 belongs

Not every corner on an equipment pad wants a 90. A 45 turns the pipe more gently, and a pair of them around an obstacle costs less flow than one sharp elbow. On the suction side of a pump, where every bit of resistance shows up in the pump performance, that difference is worth having.

Fitting it

Slip means a solvent weld socket. The pipe goes into the fitting with primer and PVC cement, so cut and dry fit the whole run first, mark your alignment, then glue. Once the cement grabs there is no adjusting the angle.

What size pipe does this take?
One inch. It is a 1 inch slip fitting, so it takes 1 inch PVC pipe.
Is this glued or threaded?
Glued. Slip means a solvent weld socket, so it goes on with PVC primer and cement. Nothing threads into it.
Why use a 45 instead of a 90?
A 45 turns the pipe more gently. Two 45s around a corner disturb the flow less than one hard 90, which is worth doing on the suction side of a pump.
