Product details

The Lasco 9220-120 is a 2 inch by 12 inch CPVC nipple in schedule 80, threaded on both ends. It is the piece used to make up the intake and discharge plumbing on pool pumps and heaters.

Why CPVC belongs here

CPVC carries a higher temperature rating than standard PVC. On the hot side of a system that runs and cools every day, that rating is what keeps the fitting from shrinking and loosening its threads over a season.

Cut it in half if you like

Twelve inches is a generous length on purpose. Plenty of installers cut one nipple down the middle and get both the intake and the discharge piece out of it.

Fitting

Threads at both ends, so it screws into unions, adapters and equipment ports without a solvent weld joint. Use a sealant suited to plastic threads and do not overtighten.

Why CPVC instead of PVC here?
CPVC takes more heat. On the intake and discharge of pumps and heaters the higher temperature rating means the nipple will not shrink as the system heats and cools.
Can I cut it down?
Yes. At 12 inches, one nipple is often cut in half to give you both the intake and the discharge piece.
What are the ends?
