The Raypak 014324F is the genuine control ignition HSI multi try kit, supplied complete rather than as a bare control.
What the control does
On a hot surface ignition heater, this control runs the whole light off sequence. It energizes the igniter, holds it while the element comes up to temperature, opens the gas valve, then watches for flame and shuts the gas down if it does not see one. Multi try means it will make more than one attempt before locking out, which keeps a heater in service through the marginal starts that would otherwise leave a pool cold.
Diagnosing before you replace
An ignition control is rarely the first thing to change. Check the igniter for cracks and continuity, confirm the gas supply and the valve, and look at the flame sensing circuit. When all of those are sound and the sequence still fails, the control is what is left.
