What the panel does
The control panel is the part of the heater that reads the thermostat setting, watches the safety circuits and decides when to call for heat. When it fails, the heater can have gas, water flow and full line power and still do nothing, which is why a dead or unresponsive display is the usual reason this kit gets ordered.
Why panels fail
The panel sits behind the front door of the heater, close to a heat source, and it takes years of moisture, temperature swings and sun.
