The Hayward IDXVAL1931 is the gas valve kit for H Series above ground pool heaters. It is the genuine Hayward replacement, supplied as a kit rather than as a bare valve.

What the gas valve does

The gas valve is the component that opens and shuts the fuel supply to the burner on command from the heater control. When it fails, the heater will often go through its start sequence, spark, and then lock out without ever lighting, because no gas reached the burner. Owners tend to suspect the igniter first, but a dead gas valve produces the same symptom.

Fitting it

This is a gas appliance component. Replacement means breaking into the fuel line, and that is work for a licensed gas or pool heater technician who can leak test the connection afterwards. Before ordering, confirm IDXVAL1931 is the part number called out for your specific heater model.
