The Raypak 014358 is the indoor stack top draft hood for Raypak 156 heaters, supplied with its adapter and sized for a 6 inch vent. Raypak shows the fitment as Model 156A.
What a draft hood does
The draft hood sits on top of the heater where the flue gases leave. It lets the appliance vent at a steady draft and keeps downdrafts in the chimney from pushing back into the burner. Without the right hood, a heater can run rough, soot up, or spill combustion products into the room.
Indoor or outdoor
This is the indoor version. A heater installed outside uses a high wind stack with adapter instead, which Raypak sells as a separate part for the same 156A heater. Get the two mixed up and the venting will not perform the way the heater was certified to.
