This is the Raypak 008156F power vent blower for the D-2 power vent, listed for Raypak 206 through 408 heaters. It is the genuine Raypak part.
What the blower does
A power vented heater does not rely on natural draft to clear combustion gases. The blower does that work, and the control will not open the gas valve until it can prove the blower is running. That makes the blower a safety interlock as much as a fan: when it fails, the heater does not run poorly, it does not run at all.
Diagnosing it
The tell is a heater that goes through its start sequence and locks out before ignition, often with a vent or pressure switch fault. A blower that hums without turning, grinds, or spins up slowly is on its way out even if the heater still fires. These units live outdoors and the bearings pay for it.
