Polaris Booster Pump Parts

Check the serial number on your PB4-60 before you order, because Polaris changed the pump at the end of 2011. A pump whose serial begins with PB and was built on or after December 1, 2011 takes the R-numbered parts in Polaris's current manual, such as the R0536400 impeller, R0536300 volute and R0536700 backplate. An earlier pump takes the older P-numbered parts, which our listings give as P15, P5 and P10. The PB4SQ multistage pump has its own set.

Numbers are the manufacturer's own.

About Polaris Booster Pump Parts

Parts for the Polaris PB4-60, the booster pump that drives a Polaris pressure side cleaner, in both its older build and the one made since December 2011, plus the PB4-60Q and the PB4SQ multistage booster: impellers, volutes and housings, backplates and brackets, shaft seals, o-rings, drain plugs, the P61 replacement motor, and the hose, quick connects and fittings that plumb the pump in. Nearly all are Polaris and Zodiac parts.

Whole booster pumps from Polaris and other manufacturers are on booster pumps, and the cleaners they drive are on pressure side cleaners. Cleaner parts have pages by model, such as Polaris 280 parts, and parts for filter pumps are on pump parts.

Questions about Polaris Booster Pump Parts

Is my Polaris PB4-60 booster pump the old style or the new style?

Look at the serial number. Polaris's current manual covers PB4-60 pumps whose serial begins with PB and that were built on or after December 1, 2011, and lists the R0536400 impeller, R0536300 volute, R0536700 backplate and R0536600 backplate o-ring for them. Our listings give the older pump's matching parts as the P15 impeller, P5 volute and P10 bracket. Order the impeller, volute and backplate from the set that matches your pump.

My Polaris booster pump is leaking under the motor. Which seal do I need?

On a PB4-60 built since December 1, 2011, Polaris lists the R0445500 ceramic and spring seal, a 13/16 inch seal also listed here for early Jandy Stealth pumps, and its R0536700 backplate includes the seal and the backplate o-ring. Zodiac's pump manuals trace water between the motor and the pump body to a failed mechanical seal. Polaris also warns that running the booster dry, or without the cleaner connected, damages it, so fix the cause as well as the seal.

Should my Polaris booster pump run on the same timer as the filter pump?

No. Polaris recommends a time clock of its own, or a manual switch. The booster is not self priming and needs the filter pump running to feed it, so set it to come on no sooner than thirty minutes after the filter pump starts, and to go off thirty minutes or more before the filter pump stops. Polaris says running the booster without the filter pump will damage it, and asks you to check now and then that the two clocks still agree.

Which parts fit a Polaris PB4SQ instead of a PB4-60?

The wet end is different. The PB4SQ, a multistage booster, takes its own housing body (R0723100), shaft seal (R0747800), impeller and diffuser kit (R0722800) and o-ring set with drain plug (R0734300), all listed for the PB4SQ only. Polaris's replacement kit sheet covers both pumps for the plumbing, though: the R0617100 quick connect install kit, the R0621000 four pack of quick connects and the P19 six foot hose.

What hose and fittings connect a Polaris PB4-60 booster pump?

Polaris's Softube quick connects, which are made to work only with its reinforced hose, P19, sold in 6 foot lengths. The R0617100 install kit has four quick connects and the hose, and R0621000 is the quick connects alone. Wrap the tapered barb thread with 4 to 6 turns of PTFE tape, never pipe dope, and do not overtighten it in the pump port. Polaris also asks for at least 3/4 inch pipe feeding the booster's inlet.
