Product details

The PoolTux 8821AB is a winter cover for an 18 foot round above ground pool, built in the 10 year tier with reinforced edge binding to resist tearing.

Where covers fail

Winter covers rarely fail in the middle of the sheet. They fail at the edge, where the cable and winch pull inward against the binding and the grommets all season while wind lifts and drops the cover thousands of times. Reinforcing the binding is what keeps that constant working load from ripping out a grommet and letting the cover slide into the pool.

Closing with it

Fit the cover over the top rail and run the cable through the perimeter so it draws in evenly, then tension it enough to hold without stretching one section harder than the rest. Clearing standing water and leaf piles off the top through the winter matters just as much, because a pooled load in the center pulls the whole cover down and puts every bit of that weight straight onto the edge binding.

What size pool is this for?

Why does the edge binding matter?
The perimeter is where all the load goes. The cable and winch pull against the edge all winter, and reinforced binding is what stops that pull from tearing out the grommets.
