Product details

The AquaStar 1216101 is a white square anti-entrapment suction outlet cover supplied with its mud frame.

What the cover is for

A suction outlet is the point in a pool where water is drawn back toward the pump, and an uncovered or badly covered outlet is the reason entrapment rules exist. Anti-entrapment covers are shaped and ported so that a body or hair cannot seal against the opening and be held there. They are safety equipment, they age in sunlight and pool chemistry, and they are replaced on a schedule rather than only when they break.

Mud frame

The mud frame is the ring that gets set into the pool shell and gives the cover something to fasten to. This listing includes it, so a new installation or a frame replacement is covered by one order.

Confirm the size first

Our source records for this part do not agree on its size: one lists 12 in. by 12 in. and another lists 16 in. square. Measure the cover or sump you are replacing and contact us to confirm the dimension before you order.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

What size is this cover?
The cover itself is 16 in. square. It is the retrofit version, so the mud frame and sub frame adapt a 12 in. square opening up to the 16 in. cover. Measure the opening you are replacing and contact us to confirm before you order.
Does the mud frame come with it?
Yes. The cover is supplied with the mud frame.
What does anti-entrapment mean?
It refers to suction outlet covers designed so a body or hair cannot seal against the opening and be held there by pump suction. Suction outlet covers are safety equipment and are replaced on a schedule, not only when they break.
Is this cover round or square?
Square. If your sump and frame opening are round, this is not the right cover.
